I have a few iCloud folders on my desktop and when I drag over a PDF file from my Downloads folder to drop into my iCloud folder on the desktop, the iCloud folder doesn't spring open when it's hovered over. Anyone else experience this? I'm assuming it has something to do with native file storage in the Downloads folder vs. Cloud storage in the iCloud folder but that's just a guess.

Any settings I should check? Or is this just a downside to having my Desktop and folders within as iCloud-based?
This is on Big Sur 11.1

I keep my Desktop in iCloud too and have a folder on the Desktop. I usually keep spring loading turned off, but I just turned it on to test (System Preferences / Accessibility / Pointer Control). I dragged a file from Downloads to the folder on the Desktop and it did spring open. I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

Big Sur 11.1 as well.

Dang. Thanks for checking for me. I adjusted the same setting in Pointer Control and no difference. I'm on a new MBP M1 but I doubt that would make any difference.

No folder springs for me either - accessibility settings don't change it - except, with the spring loading checked, the target folder icon flashes as if it was going to spring open. But does not. Also, no difference iCloud or local. Same behavior.

OS 11.2.2 on MBA 2013, Mini 2014, Mini M1

Checked on a MBP 2019, and behaves as excpected - springs open. Also OS 11.2.2.

All my machines have the finder "use groups" in folder windows.

As you know, you can "group by" several categories - none of which appear to activate the springing of folders- EXCEPT when you group by name - which isn't grouping at all anyways...

The no springing appears to be related to the use of "Use Groups"..

Same with me too. I can move the file only if I. open new window I drag it there but spring-loading is not opening the folder....
