I have two old Mac pros, one running 10.13.6 and the other, in mothballs, with 10.10 (I think) installed. Is it feasible to run SQL on the 10.13 machine? If so, what would need to be installed. This is for someone trying to learn SQL (me). I'm not a unix guy so would want some kind of graphical interface. I'd be a newb in this as well but, regarding distributed computing, is there some way I can interface the CMPs to do parallel computing? Didn't Apple have a free app for this?

I can’t answer your specific questions but most people I know pick up sql very quickly just by using it professionally.

If I had to start all over I’d check local community colleges for intro classes and/or free or inexpensive online intro courses.

Those resourses surely would know how to help you train from your machine of choice.

Thanks for inputs. I will look into online and local courses. Community college might be better as one can interact with others directly. I have used end-user RDBMS systems and took an SQL course years ago and did find it easy to learn. My problem is that I never had time to get into unix but maybe that's the best place to start.
