Hi Guys

Last week I bought my first Mac. It's a Mac Book Pro 2019 direct from Apple. I have been using a windows laptop for years and fancied a change. Sofar, so good, its fab! I am struggling to find something that I have been using for years on Windows. It is SQL Server Management Studio. This was free and I can't find the same app for Mac. I believe it is not available. Is there a good free SQL Server client for Mac that anyone can recommend?

Thanks so much

DBeaver is the best free database client and has some really unique data navigation and exploration features. Cons are that its pretty sluggish and had a bloated Eclipse based UI. It also lacks admin type tools.

Aquadata Studio is commercial and quite expensive but it's very polished and has some admin tools. Cons are that it lack some intelligent data navigation features that DBeaver offers.

DataGrip from Jetbrains is commercial and also a very good DB tool with many intelligent features.

All the above connect to SQL Server using JDBC.

SQLPro is commercial has a native Mac client for SQL Server. I haven't used it. The development is stopped now.

TablePlus is native and has a free and commercial version.

There are no equivalent tools on Mac for SQL Profiler.

With no proof, I suspect your best options are:
1. Install Management Studio in a VM running Windows.
2. Remote into your SQL server and run Management Studio directly.

Thanks Guys. I am currently using SQLPro, seems ok but it is £70
What's wrong with Microsoft Azure Data Studio?

Don't let the name confuse you, it's very much available to use for on on-prem installs as it is cloud.

Free, multi-platform and getting more and more plugins by the day.

I did try that, but I couldnt get import wizard to work, which I really needed. Still on trial with the SQL PRO. So would love the azure data studio to work properly on importing, but struggled

As far as I can tell, SqlPro is no longer. being developed. You may want to check that before you buy the license.
