Squeaky Case

I'm not sure how to explain it, but ill give it a go. I think my case is loose or something. On the side of the phone above the speaker when I hold it or press it, it makes a like a clicking/squeak sound. It's basically on the side of the phone where the black part connects to the aluminum part. I also noticed that on the left side of the phone the aluminum part sort of sticks out and on the right side its smooth. Should I return it?

This is the part above the speaker that I'm talking about.

I had a couple of minor dead pixels on the iPhone I got on the 29th, so I took it back earlier today and got it replaced with one that has a WORSE dead pixel AND the squeeky part where you describe. I have heard that only the 8gb phones have this squeeking problem but it is very annoying. I plan to call the Apple store first thing tomorrow and request that they do not ship my original iphone back, I now wish i had never returned it in the first place!

Mine is a 4gb. I called up my apple store today and sent an appointment for tomorrow. If they do give me a new phone I hope it doesn't have any dead pixels.

There are three other threads about this as well. My first one didn't do this, but I had to replace it due to the screen, and now my new one clicks on the right side. It doesn't bother me that bad, I just try not to purposely push it.

I also took a phone in because of a dead pixel issue. My replacement has no dead pixels, but now I've got the squeak issue. Took it into the apple store yesterday about it and they said since it doesn't affect functionality they can't do anything about it. Since then I have noticed a number of other issues as well (white dot pattern on screen, usage stats don't work, headphone button works intermittently, bezel not flush - sharp edge showing, and the top button is hard to push). Holy crap...do I wish I never returned that original phone. Two dead pixels isn't even close to all the stuff that is wrong with this one. I think I'm gonna go back to a different Apple store with this laundry list and hopefully all of these annoyances will add up to a replacement.

I just went to my local Apple store I was told they were all like that. The guy that was helping me said that's the part they open the phone from when they need to fix it. A couple of people in the store also showed me their phone and it was the same as mine.

I am in the same boat! I can tell you for a fact the black piece should not give any or squeak. The original iPhone I had was very solid and didnt have this issue at all. I am really dissapointed I took that one back, now I have one that squeaks and has a worse dead pixel. I even called to try and prevent them from shipping the iphone I returned back saying I wanted that one and not to take my chances on another but they would not let me. They said to bring the phone back and if it had an issue it too would be replaced. I really just want an iPhone that feels very solid and has a display that doesnt have any obvious flaws. I think I will bring my powerbook tomorrow and activate the phone right in the store and examine it before I leave to make sure this does not keep happening.

same here

my original iphone had 3 stuck pixels and weren't to noticeably visible. i herd apple has a good exchange policy so i took it in and got it exchanged. ever since then ive gone through 5 iphones and all had a stuck pixel problem, bad backlight bleeding problem, off color, or the squeaky bottom black problem. im now on my fifth iphone that has 2 dead pixels but no stuck, it has a solid body and perfect color on the screen. im gunna keep this one because i think dead pixels are a little less noticeable than stuck, but i still wish i kept my original....
