when I look straight down at my SR MacBook's screen, I notice that it is slightly lighter at the bottom than on the top. it becomes darker if I tilt the screen backwards, but then the top of the screen becomes a bit had to see.

is this normal behaviour?

here are some pics of what I am talking about. the pictures were taken with a full screen black image and without any lighting in the room.

Other than the top left pic (what is that arc?), it looks fairly normal to me. It's normal to see a lighter band at the bottom when looking straight DOWN on the screen. As long as the backlighting looks fairly uniform when looking at the screen at normal viewing angles, I would say don't worry about it.
