It's a minor item of my purchasing interest, but I'm curious. I'm trying to decide between getting the 23" or the 30" Cinema Display, but am unsure of what kind of performance I could expect from it playing, well, pretty much the only reason I'd need Windows: Flight Sim 2004 or Flight Sim X. Has anyone tried running it with 2560 x 1600 resolution? Just not sure if the MBP will push that high of a resolution effectively. I'm not a performance hog, I just want it to look halfway decent and have an acceptable framerate.
I'm just getting tired of not *quite* being able to fit my Eclipse PHP development window and my browser preview on the 20" iMac that I have. The 23" display would actually work fine for me. The 30" display is pretty much just for the shock and awe factor every time I sit down in front of my Mac. Well, and that it would make me the envy of my friends for years to come.
Only problem with the ACD's is the lack of iSight. Not that I use it often. With the 30", could I run the MBP as a secondary monitor? That way, if I needed to use iSight I could just have the MBP on an elevator and glance over to the side. I'd say I'd wait until August or September in hopes that they'd release iSight enabled ACD's (Seriously, they NEED to put iSight/mic into these things), but I don't think my desk chair will go high enough for the 30" behemoth to see me! Gosh they're spectacular!
Okay, enough drooling. 'Preciate any comments or feedback.
Edit: I should also add that I'm planning on getting the 2.2GHz MBP, so 128MB video memory.
