SR MBP Airport Problem

My friend just received a new SR mbp. My CD MB is sitting next to his with no internet problems and his internet keeps cutting out. What should we do? Is there any known airport issues with the SR MBP? He is brand new to the Apple family and i spent a long time converting him. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen a few problems like this not sure of the fix, I also have a 2.4 SR and use it about 5 hours a day and never had a issue.

Hi,

What is the make and model of whatever is serving the wireless signal?
What type of wireless is being used? a/b/g/n
Are IP addresses assigned by DHCP? If so, what is the lease time?
What type of security is being used?

Answers to those questions should help others on the forum identify your issue. My wireless connection randomly died last night, but I think it was to do with the lease time expiring on the DHCP-assigned IP address.

He has a SR MBP 2.4ghz running osx 10.4.10.
We are at school so i don't know what type of router they are using. How do we check the DHCP lease time. Like i said my CD MB has no problem with the same network. We both have the same setting as far as i know. Both notebooks are set to default. Using dhcp.

Same issue

I am recently having the same issue, I took trip out east and it started doing this when i got back. I will be on the internet for a few minutes, then it will kick me off, still saying that there is an active connection in the airport graph, but no internet. Then I have to turn off airport, turn it back on, and it works once again.

I may have a fix for you..

A few days ago this same thing was happening to me. So i decided i would reset the router/turn the wireless back on and see if that would work... No such luck.. Then I got to thinking.. I was using a computer running windows to set up the router and turn the wireless on.. What would happen if i used my MBP with an ethernet cable to turn the wireless on? long story short it now works perfectly

I did test this several times before hand. and every time I would turn the wireless on with the windows computer. it would either not let me connect to the router, or drop out on me.
