SR MBP Delivery?!?!?

I'm new to Mac, I'm making the switch. My SR MBP was ordered today June 30th at 6:48am. I was wondering if anyone can tell me when it might get here? I got the entry level glossy display model. When I tracked it on apple.com it says

Ships by: Jul 10 - Jul 12
Delivers by: Jul 12 - Jul 18

is that normal? I thought it was going to come earlier :( Do they usually come earlier then what apple quotes.

On the site they said "Ships: 5-7 business days"

Help! :)
 
because you got the glossy screen it is considered a CTO (Config to Order) and will always take longer than the quoted 5-7 days.

It could come earlier, but I would not bet on it. The MBPs are in high demand right now and are taking awhile to crank out of the manufacturing facility.
 
Gosh, I wish I would have known that Glossy was considered a config. I would have went for the Matte then. Oh well, hopefully it will come fast!

I personally got the glossy on mine. I am so glad I did! IMHO, it is a much better looking display than the matte (that discussion has been beat to death around here).

I would not "settle" on either display just because you will get the computer a few days earlier. The display is the main thing you look at on a computer. Who cares if it takes a few days longer. Get what you want and wait it out. You won't be mad that you did.
 
I ordered, as you can see in my siggie, a 2.2mbp with glossy screen June 17. I'm still waiting. It'll be two weeks this tuesday and if it's not here i'm raising hell.:)

Worst thing is I ordered it via our campus reseller so i didn't get a shipping tracker, so i don't know if it's still in China or just next door.
 
I ordered mine on June 6th at 9am. It finally shipped on the 16th and I got it on the 22nd.

I hated the wait, but it is worth it. It really seems much longer than it actually is. Just wait it out.
 
Ordered mine the night of Thursday, June 21. It shipped out Wednesday, June 27, and looks like it will arrive Monday, July 2 according to FedEx. Not too bad. The customizations I had were a glossy screen and 160GB hard drive (up from 120).
 
My MBP is here! only it is still at Fedex and since they don't do Saturday delivery, I won't get it until Monday:( Still exciting that it got here so fast. took less than a week! They estimated that it wouldn't even ship until this coming Tuesday:eek:

Hope it doesn't have any problems...:) :apple: :)
 
The glossy screen is worth the extra pennies imho. I had one on my Dell e1505 and is worth the extra $$$...well I "had", lol - switched to a macbook for my needs.
 
I ordered mine on the 12th June and it arrived on the 28th. Its the 2.2 (standard) with glossy screen, which is amazing, as everyone has said. I probably would have went for matte if I thought it would have been here quicker, but glad I didn't!

You will love it more when it arrives. :)

Ahh, this makes me hopeful that mine will come earlier. :D

NewMacGuy, what date did you place your order and what configuration MBP did you get?
 
my local apple store was completely out of 2.2 and 2.4 15 inch mbp's so i ordered exactly what you did (2.2 glossy) on wed june 28. it had delivery set for july 10-12. Last night i was bored and called the apple store just curious if they had gotten any in and they had! so i had to wait in line with all the people wanting to touch the iphone for an hour just to buy my computer. but at least i got it:)
 
I just ordered a MBP 2.2 15" matte after making a trip to the Oakbrook IL :apple: store to find they had none of the entry level MBP's in stock and couldn't tell me when they expected to get more.

I got the same "Ships by Jul 10-12, Delivers by Jul 12-18" estimates.

I wonder if they are correcting some of the issues identified at great length in other threads and this is the reason for the lack of units in the channel.

At least I got to play with an iPhone as a reward for my time and gallon of gas. :)
 
I've ordered a 2.4GHz MBP (w/ glossy display option) a week after it was released. It's been nearly 3 weeks and I've been told by the campus reseller that it wouldn't get here until another couple of weeks!!!!! :(

But I don't think I'll regret the glossy screen! :rolleyes:
 
I ordered a 2.2 MBP (matte) with a 160GB HD upgrade on the 28th and it still says "Ships by July 6-July 10, Delivers by July 10-July 13".

I really have my fingers crossed that it might ship before next friday. :eek:

I placed my order on June 24th in the evening. It is a MBP, 2.2, matte screen, 160 HD @3400. I did spend the extra for 2 day shipment, but it still came faster than it estimated. :) :apple: :)
 
i just ordered a 2.2/matte/160gb (5400rpm) last saturday, went with the free shipping, and it is already in town and will be delivered monday morning. the estimate was nearly a week longer than it actually took. so no worries here, just eager anticipation.

If they are in short supply because Apple is taking care of defects and QC issues I don't mind waiting the extra shipping days because I mine to be perfect.

"FriarTuck" TELL ME WHEN YOU GET YOURS! looks like we might get them the same day. Macbook Pros opening all around the world on the same day.

I received mine this morning. I will not open it until I have my camera available to document the process. Because I am one of those people. :p
 
All the 15 inch MBPs are now at 7-10 day delivery, even if you upgrade to the 7200 HD...

I ordered mine on June 30th and I havent heard anything yet. The wait continues...
