Hello

Google Earth is a real stress test for the fan of my 1st gen MB. How loud is the fan of SR MBP (2.2 or 2.4 GHz) when running Google Earth?

The fan noise is related to the fan speed, not to any application.

The fan speed is related to the system temperature, not to any application.

The system temperature is related to the system workload and the environment, not to any application.

On a really hot day playing Uplink under WinXP under VMWare kicks up my fans to high levels, but on a cold night Google Earth does nothing to the fans.

It's clear that the fan speed depends on the temprature. However, when running GE, my MB fan gets really LOUD under normal office conditions (~20 °C). Since the sound is very annoying, I would like to know, if it's the same on a MBP. I imagin it could be better since the the graphics chip is much better.

Aha! I forgot about the graphics chip, you are right. It is highly probable that GE causes less system load on a machine with a graphics chip.

I can check mine tonight but I wouldnt know how to properly benchmark.
