In short, my SR MBP will never go to sleep. It will shut down for about 1 second then start back up again when set to sleep under the Energy Saver settings.

I've noticed when I turn off the Airport it seems to sleep fine.

I've brought it to a Mac store twice where they've reinstalled OS X, and replaced the logic board. Still, the thing doesn't want to sleep. It even will wake up when I close the lid, then freeze when I re-open it.

Anyone, PLEASE, what the heck is going on with my 1 month old computer?????

Actually, yes, I contacted AppleCare (4th time), and I'm sending it in to get the reed switch replaced. I guess it could help, but I have a feeling it has something to do with Airport -- since everything works when I shut it off. I guess we'll see.

If that doesn't work, you may want to try emailing sjobs@apple.com, and ask for a new one. Although Steve himself won't answer, many people have done the same thing with alot of success when Applecare won't fix there problem. Worth a try at least.

There was a thread about this several days ago and I think the solution was something about resetting pram? or pvram? It just involved holding down a few keys on startup... you might want to look for that thread.

On a MacBook Pro that would be a SMC reset.

If you have to bring it in a third time demand a new one on the spot.
