All of the sudden my MBP won't go to sleep on it's own when the energy options timer says it should. It will sleep when I close the lid, and when I manually tell it to sleep.

Most of the time when the computer reaches the designated time to sleep, it will sleep for about 5 secs then turn back on.

I called AppleCare. They had me reset the SMC and flash the PRAM - to no avail.

It seems to have started after my wireless usb mouse started going crazy and I had to unplug it. Could it have something to do with the USB waking it up?

Anyone have any thoughts? This computer is less than a month old!!!!

as long as you have selected the relevent power profile i.e the one with the timing it should perform the task, however I checked in the logs why my gf's powerbook kept waking up, and it turns out the USB bus kept waking it up its a logitech USB dongle mouse.
It may be that the mouse is constantly keeping it awake. try turning the mouse off and closing lid, are the batteries good in the mouse?
have a look in the log, close the lid, open it and check the logs see if there are any messages

I tried to use the timer thing under the energy saver and I still haven't been able to get it to work. I've tried everything that I can think of, but it's just not working out.

I've just narrowed down this problem. Everything is fine when I turn airport off. When I turn it on the computer will keep waking automatically from sleep -- i'd say this occures 50% of the time.

Anyone know how to fix this?
