SR MBP won't reconnect to wireless network after sleep or reboot

The title says it all. My SR MBP will not auto reconnect to my wireless network after sleeping or rebooting. I have done al kinds of things to fix it, but nothing worked. I will describe that later on, if you have the same problem with the SR MBP please reply in this thread. If you think you have a solution please read on, to know what I've tried so far .

I am running Tiger, with all the latest updates including 10.4.10 and the latest Airport update. I have tried to delete the preference networks. I have tried to delete the airport preferences file. I have tried to delete the password from the keychain. I have tried a new installation of Tiger. All to no avail. It just doesn't want to reconnect to my wireless network .

What does it say in console or system log?

What WAP are you trying to connect to?

Can you manually reconnect?

The only problem is in automatic r(e)connection. I can manually do it, by clicking on the airport icon in the menubar and selecting the accesspoint I wish to connect with.

The WAP is using WEP encryption, it is a Siemens model provided by my ISP. I have just done a reinstall this afternoon. So both logs are still quite empty.

i can't help you, but i can say that i have the same problem! does it work for you when you reselect the network? mine sometimes doesn't even work like that...

Yup, I have that too sometimes. I have a total reboot to find my wireless network.

This is completely weird. But I think I fixed it, or at least found a work-around. I have tried no security and WEP, which both won't automatically reconnect. I have reconfigured it to WAP encryption, and IT WORKS. Stange, I know. But it might be a fix for somebody out there. So this is my (temporary) solution.

I have the same problem with my SR MBP dropping my wireless connection after sleep. I am already using WPA security (with a D-Link router) so that is not a solution for me. I can always get the connection back but it is certainly annoying.

I can't get my connection back. I got back to my friend's house where I had the problem, and my MBP immediately linked up to the network when I turned it on. After it first went to sleep, I have not been able to get it back for over two hours, no matter how often I sleep/restart/etc.

I'm a new Mac user so not really a power user as far as working out Mac bug stuff (I probably could have worked wonders on a PC by now), anything else I can try...I knew I shouldn't have installed the buggy-sounding 10.4.10!
