Do you have any suggestions for adapters for installing 2.5" SSD using the 4 internal trays. I remember ordering a cheap random one ages ago online but I couldn't use it for a reason i have a vague memory about. Something like not having the holes for the screws on the top/bottom side of the "3.5 hdd", let's say. I ended up using the second optical bay SATA.

But now i'd like to replace all my spinning with SSD's.

Thanks

Have you used it? I'm asking only because from the different views on the renderings it's not extremely clear if there's the presence of screw holes for the captive ones on the Mac Pro tray. I hope it makes sense :)

I use six of these

This gets overlooked: Part number 922-9629 is the original Apple adapter.

I used a WD VelociRaptor heatsink mount on my 5,1. Nice heatsink and worked very well for me.

Another tick for the Sebrant sled, works great, after MacPro died, it now carries the SSD in my JBOD used for back ups.

OWC, macsales.com has several SSD sleds for use with the Mac Pro.

Most likely this is not what you are looking for, but this is how I install my SSD into the HDD bay. Zero cost, no extra parts to fail, and best cooling. I disassembly few SSD already, none of them has sticker on the screw yet. So, I can always put them back into the case if I need warranty.

I've also used this minimal system, works like a charm.

Did you put Kapton tape or any insulator on the top side?
