SSD and HDD

Anyone with a current late 2012 Mac Mini, is there any issue/problem with adding an SSD to the standard 1tb HDD?

Reading the Mac Performance Guide website leaves me with the impression that after adding the SSD and having the 2 drives, there's issues with reformatting the drives to get everything up and running. So I'm confused...

Something about the system wanting to set it up in a Fusion style but drives not being recognized, etc?

Just looking to pop in an SSD with the HDD; running the OS and Apps off the SSD and storage on the HDD. And keeping them as 2 separate volumes.

never heard of these issues, i popped in an SSD from day 1 and have them as two separate drives with no issues. media on the 1TB and everything else on the SSD
