Hi,
I had my System installed on a SSD and moved Home Directory, /private/tmp and Sleepimage to my as well intern HDD (MacBook Pro).

A couple days ago the HDD seamed to be really slow and i scanned the drive, repaired it and with out thinking I fixed as well the permissions on the SSD.

Disk Utility told me my HDD partition is ****ed up and need to be formatted. So I started up in to the terminal to figure out that he made me an new tmp folder on the original destination. But still, I could not start my system anymore properly. I had done an emergency User on the SSD, but logged in as this user brought me just a grey screen. The HDD is not mountable any more.

So my question:
I have to set up the system again. I will replace the HDD. If I set it up as before, can't I use Disk Utility anymore?

Or should I make a Fusion Drive out of bough drives? And if I do so, does this work with Boot Camp? And does it Trim it self then??

Thank you very much for help!

The best options is to make a Fusion drive, and not have to worry about sorting out bits of the system onto different disks ever again.

However, for Boot Camp, you can only partition the HDD to use on Windows, and the remaining Mac portion of the HDD will make up the Fusion Drive with the SSD.

Ok, I'm convinced. I'm always a little bit sceptic about Apples politic doing stuff shady in the background without the option of user interaction, but FD seams to be solid. How ever, I do have to make the FD first and then the partition for Boot Camp, am I right?

For the record, it still seams to be necessary to use Trim Enabler.
(http://www.mactechnews.de/forum/dis...-Enabler-notwendig-empfehlenswert-312682.html) sorry, its in german

And it should be practically the same speed then with SSD

Make the FD first and install OS X, then you deal with Boot Camp.
