Go for the PCIe SSD SM951 may be a better choice. No need to use 2 PCIe slots with 2 expensive PCIe adaptors.

h9826790, does the Mac Pro Mid 2012 have a PCI-e slot on the motherboard for the SAMSUNG SM951 M.2 SSD? Or are you suggesting a PCI-e card with the SAMSUNG SM951 M.2 ?

I own both of these and have them both in my 12-core Mac Pro.

I think it comes down to what you are using it for? Are you looking for a boot drive? A media scratch drive?

I have the SM951 as my boot drive and the Sonnet Tempo with 2 Samsung SSDs in RAID 0 as my media read/scratch drive.

Both are plenty fast... it comes down to speed vs capacity needs.

I was looking to buy this drive as my boot/work drive Tempo PCIe 3.0 SSD Card with 512GB SSD

and Tempo SSD Pro Plus in RAID config as my read/storage/scratch drive.

I work with Photoshop and Premiere. My files get pretty big at times.

Is there an adapter for the M.2 drives to put them in one of the new (cylindrical) Mac Pros?

Thats a good setup. With the Tempo SSD Pro, you can always replace the SSDs for larger capacities, since you are using it for media scratch and storage. For the boot, the PCIe 512GB SSD or SM951 is a good option.
