Does anyone know if the OCZ VERTEX 3 MAX OPS 2.5" 120GB SSD is compatible with mac pro?

Regards,
Charlie

It is a SATA-III drive. SATA is backwards compatible, so it should work, but you won't be able to get the full theoretical speed out of this drive, as the MP's SATA interfaces are slower.

He means an adapter to install the SSD into the Mac Pro. The SSD has a 2,5" form factor, whereas the drive bays in the MP are either 3,5" or 5,25".

Hello,

If you have a 2009-2010 Mac Pro, you can easily plug your SSD in the second optical bay (unless you have 2 optical drives).

A long zip-tie loop works fine as well in the HD bays, to serve as a harness to hold the SSD in place.

MP's only support max SATA II speeds default, so unless you're getting a good deal on the Vertex 3 you're not getting any of the benefits of the SATA III rev.
