SSD Partition Trouble

I installed a 240 GB SSD drive into my Macbook Pro 13 running 10.8 Lion. Some how I have all my apps on both partitions. I thought the purpose of the SSD was to run apps and such faster from the SSD. Due to my apps being on both partitions I don't have adequate space.

Can somerone tell me the simplest way to fix this???? I do not have an external drive. I do have a iMac 27 inch.

edit: When I installed the SSD I created two partitions. I only use the 500GB HD for storage now. It makes using the mac much faster.

Perhaps you can tell us what you mean by two partitions? Have you got only the SSD in your Macbook or do you also have the hard disk in it also?

I have two partitions on the SSD. I want to only have one or a small partition for software. I'm not sure what I need to do.

How did you transfer your old boot drive to the ssd? Did you reinstall osx or use something like carbon copy clone?

Are you booting from your ssd?

If you are booting from the ssd , then you could go to disk utility and simply erase the partition that you are not using to boot. Id suggest making a backup first.

You are going to need to detail the steps you used when doing your install. Etc. Did you install and clone your existing HDD contents to the SSD?

There are lots of ways to deal with this stuff these days. Carbon copy cloner and other products can let you selectively clone a boot drive while omitting data. There is the diy fusion drive route; there is the run everything on the SSD + keep your HDD installed for data route. There is the SSD for boot + mapping /Users/yourusers onto your second drive route.
