I have to choose between
macbook air
256 SSD
16 GB
1.1 i5 10th gen

and
macbook pro
256 SSD
16 GB
1.4 i5 8th gen

I need to run windows 10 under virtualisation.
I regularly need to do data processing of lots of files small and large.

it seems a tossup CPU wise.
But what about the SSD? Which is the faster one?

I’m not sure if the SSDs would be any different but I wouldn’t call the CPU a tossup. The newer 10th generation CPU in the Air might be more powerful for bursty tasks but the Pro would have better sustained performance. At least this is my understanding is from reviews.
