Hi, how are you? I want to know if Macs like 2006-2007 support SSD well, with stability or half-support with limitations and also know if can I put SATA III SSDs (as I can't find SATA II ones).

Thanks

Yes SSD's work just fine and yes most SATA III are SATA II compatible, at least all the units I've tried.
This is how my Transcend SATA III SSD's show up on my MacPro 1,1.

Any type of indication of failure? It's safe to use a SATA III SSD so?

Thanks for the replies!

No problems with mine. I have two SSD drives in my machine. One for Windows 10, and one for El Capitan. It's just a drive. Plug it into the drive bays like any other drive (may require a caddy to adapt it from 2.5" to 3.5" form). But, just plug it in, and treat it like any other drive.

I haven't had any problems. Just get one big enough to have some breathing room if you keep other stuff on your boot drive.

Any current generation’s SATA SSD can do the job.

Of course they will be limited to SATA II max sequential speed, but that doesn’t really matter. The connection type won’t afftect the SSD’s IOPS performance. Which is good enough for most users.
