I recently swapped out the hdd of my late 2012 mac mini with an ssd. recently i've been remembering that back in the day "trim" was a big topic of discussion on mac os in such circumstances. i am wondering - what is the status of trim on mac os now, and should i do somtehing regarding it?

thanks

I think TRIM might be standard in the most recent OSs, but not in the earlier ones unless your SSD is an Apple unit. My newest Mac is a 2012 MBP, and my towers are older. I used to use Trim Enabler, without the extras, but upgraded on my MBP to Disk Sensei (same company, I think). I like the simple extra controls and it did the TRIM function as well without having to go in to Terminal. I just checked my cMPs, and neither has TE or DS, but all the SSDs have Trim enabled, you can see that in the system report from the silver Apple menu under SATA and then the drive in question. Disk Sensei with all the features is $20.
