SSD to a Macbook Pro 13'' Mid 2009

Need to upgrade by harddrive to a ssd.

My macbook is 3.0 Gb/s SATA 2.0. But i have read that "SATA III specifications provide backward compatibility to function on SATA I and SATA II ports."

You can but keep in mind the max speeds will be about half as the listed speeds are for SATA 3. Not really a problem, unless you regularly use large files.

So you are essentially slightly overpaying, but I doubt you will find a new SATA 2 drive today so you will be fine. Plus the newest drives are faster for small files so you should get some benefits anyway.

I agree with Cruisin that this drive will work fine for you. I followed your link to the sandisk drive on amazon and it took me to the US store (i'm in the US) and the 480 gb drive was only $15 more for double the storage.

Google Nvidia MCP and SSD compatibility first before you try it. A few years ago, a majority of the SSDs on the market were incompatible with the MCP chipsets and caused eventual data corruption and lockups. I do not believe that the issue is ever resolved and your choice of SSDs is limited still. It is not simply the interface speeds, which is not the heart of the issue with these Macs.
