Hi all,
I upgraded the hard drive to an Samsung SSD 860 QVO and installed high Sierra fresh onto it. The issue i am experiencing is that when i restart the machine i get the loading bar, then i get the dreaded circle with a line through it and nothing else happens. BUT if i shut down the machine fully and start it up it loads perfectly fine to the OSX.
I have tried; booting into recovery, resetting the RAM etc etc nothing has worked.
Any help and guidance anyone has, that would be appreciated.
Thanks

FYI, those QVO drives have had boot issues in the past. Most stick with PRO or EVO models without issue. I've run into issues with the previous generation QVO's for Mac-based storage usage and do not recommend them. This latest generation may have changed things, however.

That being said, for a boot drive this appears to be missing the APFS - data volume. How did you make this boot drive? It should be like this:

See that thread. You also need to update.

I don't think that APFS DATA drive made it's appearance until "Catalina" came on the scene.
None of my APFS formatted drives for High Sierra or Mojave show a separate Data section.
