Hi. I recently tried to upgrade the original SSD my mid-2015 MacBook Pro (Monterey) to a 2TB Crucial M.2 SSD by following the instructions in this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/upgrading-2013-2015-macbook-pro-ssd-to-m-2-nvme.2034976/

Part of the process was to create a bootable USB drive using OpenCore Legacy Patcher.

After backing up from my Time Machine backup, my MBP now thinks that it belongs to the University of Maine and wants to enrol my MBP to add their software and tweaks. (I am not now, nor ever have been associated with the University of Maine.) See attached screenshot.

I am also now unable to access some files on my SSD that are part of my own university's use of MS OneDrive. See attached screenshot.

I am wondering if I accidentally overwrote a boot file or something. I tried wiping the new SSD on a Windows machine and then reformatting on a Mac and using a bootable USB created using a different utility, but the problem persists.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

If your MBPro is a 2015 model, then you do not need to use OCLP to make a bootable USB installer, as any 2015 MBPro supports Monterey natively.
Was your MBPro set up by some other university (which might explain why you have any profile set up in firmware. And... it sounds like you do have a profile in firmware, which can't be removed by anyone other than the original institution, or company. What university ARE you a part of, if not the University of Maine? You may want to contact your university IT to see if they have any ideas for you.

Hi, Russell. Thanks for your reply. Although I use my MBP for work at the University of Toronto, it is my personal machine and not administered by my employer. I did contact the IT people here, but they said they couldn't do anything and that I should try the Apple Store. Since making this post, I contacted the University of Maine IT people to see if they had any ideas.
