As of yesterday there was no extra wait time on SSD options on the 2010 models.

There doesn't seem to be a shortage of SSD drives in general from anything I've read.

So why a 4-6 week wait, just doesn't seem right ?

Is Apple waiting for Lion? If so why?
Are they updating chipsets in a few weeks possibly?

This is a possible concern for people thinking about ordering now and adding SSD or adding an aftermarket one, if there is a technical reason for the delay.

I am wondering if Apple is waiting to include the z68 chipset. Here is hoping.

I can't really believe that but as those models apparently have SATA II only a faster SSD would not give them a huge benefit... So this *may* be true, but I don't expect this to happen. Speculation out of nowhere. The iMac + SSD ship may simply be late or something like that.

It is also worth noting that the high end 21" model also has an SSD option, and it is shipping in 2-3 weeks.
