Hey guys, I want to expand my SSD to 1TB (currently at 256GB) and looking at some SSD to purchase. Seems like the go to is the OWC Aura Pro X. I'm looking at some cheaper alternatives for a 1TB SSD, under $300 would be ideal.

The [Samsung 970 EVO](https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147691&Description=1tb 970 evo&cm_re=1tb_970_evo-_-20-147-691-_-Product) looks decent, but I'd need an adapter and it would come to around $300. The Aura is $380

Anyone have any suggestions?

That thread contains information for all models of the MBP with removable SSDs from late 2013 to 2015.

The advantage you have is the fact that your MacBook is a 2015 which means it can enter deep sleep and wake from deep sleep without kernel panics.

If you go with a Samsung drive, you will need to run high Sierra or Mojave.

It's best to upgrade to the latest release of Mojave with the original Apple SSD before swapping the drive. Installing Mojave with the original SSD installed will ensure that the MacBook is running the latest version of bootrom and SMC.

What is the best SSD to get for 2015 MacBook Pros?
Original ones if you can and if you go this route, make sure they're the 2015 drives, and not earlier 2013/2014 drives. I've seen reports of people getting 2015 MacBook Pros with older slower read/write speed drives.
