what the general said.

and no, i didn't change the background. summerboard isnt out.. and prbly wont be.

i DID however, add some of my user images to the splash screen when it asks for unlock. i think the pictures they have = boring.

You do know you can do that with photos you've synced, right?

...just checking, haha.

i installed openssh but-
do oyu have to turn it on or something
are the username/password still root/alpine?

thanks

no you dont. it turns on and off automatically to preserve power.

in terminal or w/e u use to ssh into just type in ssh the ip address of the phone.
im assuming u know all this since the username and password are still root/alpine.

theres not much to do w/ ssh right now tho. i cant figure out how to put text files and all of my old jb apps for 1.1.4 doesnt work >_< (books.app doesnt work, nor does gpsphone.app)

i wanna change the text message tone :)

Me too. I want to make it this sound:

http://idisk.mac.com/tedroddy/Public/burn complete.aif

How would I do this? Is there a way to make it just show up on the list of notification sounds so I can select it? Or maybe replace one of the other ones that is not tritone, because I rather like tritone. :)

EDIT: I notice they are stored in /System/Library/Audio/UISounds/sms-received#.caf

EDIT EDIT: HA! Rename an aiff to sms-received6.caf and replace an annoying one that you don't like such as sms-received6.caf with one you made and you now have a custom text message sound!

EDIT EDIT EDIT: By the way, if you didn't know already, you can use something like Fugu or Cyberduck to connect to the iPhone if you have OpenSSH running and view and modify files. SSH in essentially SFTP.

yeah i just replaced sms 1 with rise against- drones!
it's awesome, ive wanted to change that stupid text tone forever, and now i have.

only problem is i made the song 20 seconds long, and even if you acknowledge you got the text the song still plays haha, oh well you can just cover the speaker.

How do you change the SSH password on the iPhone 2.0 to something more secure than "alpine"?

thought this was interesting: I also installed SSH and was able to put all my original notes back on my Iphone with the program called iPhoneNotes. It just SSH's to the phone -I made a back up and then once I jailbroke my phone I was able to SSH them back on - this is coming from 1.1.4 I was not already on 2.0.

Having difficulty getting it working, OpenSSH is installed but when i try to connect from my mac (or my pc) i just get "operation timed out"

How long is it waiting for? It takes a good minute to generate the fresh SSH keys on a device as slow as the iPhone/iPod.

only waits about 20 seconds before timing out. Is there a way to adjust the timeout time? (i'm a complete noob when it comes to terminal/ssh and all that malarky)

The keys should generate in the background even after you time out. So you should be able to connect now.

Nah doesn't work, think its a router issue of some sort. Should the iphone be pingable? if i ping it from my router setup pages it is pingable (router netgear dg834g) but pinging it from any of my connected computers say the destination is unreachable.

Thanks for the input though, i'll keep messing.

Yes, it should be pingable.

Thanks for your help, i've solved it (although not ideal).

For some reason i cannot ping it or connect to it from any device connected to my router via WiFi, but connecting my macbook over ethernet it works perfectly. (this has also solved my on going leopard --> vista file sharing problem).

I don't see why my wifi devices cannot connect to each other but i guess thats a problem to sort out elsewhere.
