Hi, all. I have made some new Shortcuts that use the “Run script over SSH” action to interact with with my home router. The Shortcuts all work correctly on my iPhone and my iPad. But, on my Apple Watch, I always get a “Message send failed” error message when I try to run them. The Apple Watch has a Bluetooth connection to the iPhone, is very close to the iPhone, and is on WiFi. Restarting the Apple Watch and iPhone doesn’t help.
I am running the latest full-release versions of iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS.
I have tried having the “Run script over SSH” action use both Password Authentication and SSH Authentication. Again, both work fine on iPhone and iPad and give the same “Message send failed” error message on Apple Watch.
I noticed that on iPhone and iPad the first time Shortcuts tried to connect to my router via SSH I got a dialog. It said “The authenticity of host ‘My Router‘s IP Address’ can’t be established because it has not been seen before by this device. … Are you sure you want to continue connecting?” There were Cancel and Connect buttons and I chose Connect. Perhaps the Apple Watch has a similar initial connection concern and no way to show me that dialog? If so, is there any solution for that?
In a possibly unrelated issue, I have also had trouble with Shortcuts syncing to the Apple Watch. I have seen others post about this elsewhere online. I find that I have to toggle the “Show on Apple Watch” setting for a new Shortcut from on to off to on again for the new Shortcut to show up on the Apple Watch. (Deleting and reinstalling the Shortcuts app on the iPhone also seems to make Apple Watch syncing work again, at least for a single time. I think restarting the iPhone may so the same.) I am unclear if changes to existing Shortcuts are synced to the Apple Watch or not.
Any advice on either of these issue would be appreciated.
