I will likely get my hands on an early iMac (March 2006) very soon. My question is :- are the iMacs OK with the occasional power fluctuations experienced in a typical home situation ie. such as when the aircon. kicks in. I ask this because I did at one time have an earlier iMac (w/dome base) on the same premises for a short time. This unit after three days of use ended up with a fried mainboard. I was informed that it was due to power fluctuations. I am a retired electrician and ran my own tests on the incoming supply of 240 volts and found no drastic changes in voltage over a 24hr period. BTW it was an Apple tech. who suggested this and showed me the M/B. I wasn't happy with the aforementioned puter at the time, but had to accept the findings of the Apple tech. I found it rather odd that considering the number of these models sold over the years I hadn't heard of this problem before. Oh!! this was common I was informed.
I switched to Windows for a few years !!!!!! Now I wish to get back to an Apple once again.

PS: The new iMacs look great but alas all I can afford is the 2006 iMac.
