Not surprisingly, several people have asked me about creating their own Stacks. There are many apps that do this already, although they are pretty bad in my opinion. I really wanted to create an excellent user experience, and for that it meant keeping a laser-like focus on simplicity. As soon as you create your own, than the user experience becomes tedious when entering in data via the phone or complex in transferring the data to the phone. Also features like self-scoring come into play and add to the complexity.

I have a couple ideas on where to take Stacks in the coming months, and creating your own is certainly one of them. Although I really see that as being a separate app as it would be a different business model and require a user experience focused on getting data into the phone first and foremost. For now, I'm totally open to stack suggestions and will add stacks that may be enjoyed by a fair number of people. Obviously Klingon phrases is fairly niche, so the future of content is very broad.

IMHO, creating your own stacks would be a very nice addition to this app. One thing I have always been concerned about with apps that allow us to create our own cards, however, is that there is no way to police the cards to make sure the information is factual. I could, for example, create a very nice set of flashcards about Herbert Hoover, America's First President which detailed his skillful fighting in both the American Revolution and Korean War Most people, hopefully, would catch this and realize its absurdity, but some people rely on trust of publicly pre-built sets (as I would if I knew very little about the subject matter and needed a set for one of my kids to study).

With anything, there's good and bad, I guess.

Yeah, that's a big one... Stacks are all professionally researched, and vetted for accuracy. There is less flexibility, but you can count on the quality as if you purchased them from a retail store.
