I've never seen a request for authentication using the Apple Notes app. Does entering your Apple ID and password resolve it?

I have no account or email and password set up so I have no idea why it is asking me for email and password.

And yes it is free and open source app they say.

Saw this over at Reddit earlier and it got a reply in the last hour:

Hi, we had a bug introduced in version 3.5.5 that unnecessarily asked users for credentials. We released a new version already on Android that fixes this, iOS update is pending Apple approval. I’m really sorry for the troubles this caused. Please do not uninstall the app. I recommend setting up an account to backup your notes after the update is released.

If you want to send them a support question yourself, their email address is help (at) standardnotes.org.

So how long before Apple post an update to the app? So they send the app to Apple and than later on Apple post the app?

How long does it take on average weeks or month or two?

They are saying that Apple has usually approved their updates within 24 hours. So it's probably going to be later today or tomorrow if nothing else comes up.

In their settings, under the account login, it says OPTIONS, Manage Privileges, and then Export Data, Encrypted, and then Decrypted.

If you tap Decrypted it'll bring up the Share Sheet. Although I'm noticing that the notes it's exporting actually aren't decrypted... I don't know if it's going to be the same for you, but I mentioned it to them, they could reproduce it, and they're working on fixing it for another update.

That's open source in 2020 for you.

So far the app well seems to be working I will see how it plays out over the week or two.

In the time I will like to back up my notes but I do not know how to do that.

I gone to https://standardnotes.org/help

And https://github.com/standardnotes/forum/issues/

But it does not tell me how to back up my notes.

The new update fixed the export issue. This is what you're looking for:

And then it gives you a txt file with not so properly formatted JSON, but readable/easily fixable.
