Wow, you're confused. No Cylons in the Star Trek universe - that's a Battlestar Galactica reference. "May the force be with you" is from Star Wars, also nothing to do with Star Trek.

i have a feeling it was a joke

Sorry, joking about Star Trek is NOT ALLOWED (some things are sacred).

(PS - that's a joke).

Does STO still suck though?

Obviously it sucks a little less now that it is on Mac, but overall does it still suck?

When it first came out it was just a bunch of little grind quests. Not exactly the star trek adventures of lore.

A lot of it is still little grinding like that... but there are several feature episodes and quest serious that have decent to good story plots that are fun to play through. No one can tell you if it "sucks" though since thats highly subjective. Tons of people play the game and find it quite fun

All MMOs have grind quests to some degree. As far as content, what interests me is that they have now progressed to their "Romulan Expansion".

Play a Rommie with a bad haircut! Oh yeah!

My question would be: Do the Mac users (I know it's still Mac beta) have access to the Klingon and Romulan expansion content? Maybe in the coming months? I do not like being forced to always play a Fed.

This is interesting. If you stay as an actual free to play user, do you still get good functionality?

It would appear there are three factions available in the Mac beta. So far, I have tried only Federation, but other factions are selectable. No buttons are not greyed-out, or anything.:)

I'm a huge Star Trek fan so I tried STO once in Bootcamp. Ultimately, I found it uninteresting and uninspiring. The game's leaking plasma here and there...
It's not bad, but it needs a Blizzard touch...
But maybe it's me, I bought Knights of the old Republic (first one) for next to nothing since everyone's raving about it. Didn't like it, either...

oh please no... don't make it worse...

what...? you must have hated the Baldur's gate series, Icewind Dale, and Neverwinter Nights all too. Basically just like those with more cinematic cutscenes, set in Star Wars instead of D&D.

I downloaded the beta and gave it a shot. Overall, I found performance to be superior than in Windows on my 2011 Mac Mini i7 w/6630m. I ran it at full resolution (1920x1200) with no issues at all. It looks and plays great!

Nice find! Now if we can convince swtor to do the same, I'd be one happy camper!

The Blizzard Touch is difficult to emulate. Blizzard is legendary for developing games for many many many many long-overdue years and teasing its fan base for years. That's because Blizzard takes their sweet time developing their games, and they do not rush to release them. THAT is why Blizzard games often come out polished and mature, finished products with very few game-borking bugs on initial release.

Most of their competitors have a habit of "rushing" their half-completed games towards release. Sad but true.

Seconded! SWTOR is one of the few great A-list MMORPGs that is still lacking a native OSX client.

I bought SWtOR on release and randomly have played it since. I'd probably play it A LOT more if there was a native mac version.

Have been interested in Star Trek Online for awhile. Might have to give it a try.
