With the meteor shower tonight, I was looking for a good astronomy app. These two seem to have the best ratings from what I can tell and have the nice built in compass feature for the iPhone 3GS. Anyone tried them both? What do you prefer?

Star Walk
Pocket Universe

[app]StarMap Pro[/app] is 10x better then Star Walk & Pocket Universe.

Find 2.5 million stars and 13,200 deep-sky object !

That does look really good but I dunno that I'm down to pay $12/$19 for an app I won't use that often.

Star Walk the best

+1 Star Walk

I have several astro apps and can say that all others (including Pocket Universe and Star Map) look ugly and not user-friendly in comparison with Star Walk.

Sky Voyager for me, but then it only cost me 1c, thanks to a special offer run by Carina Software last month. Awesome piece of software (also on my MacBook)

Star Walk works and looks amazing. Using it now and very happy ))
Pocket Universe and Star Map - both have tons of not necessary astro info but the inreface... Well, I must say, my little daughter can paint much better ;) The interface from Pocket Universe seems to be a bad joke, got a pain in my eyes while using Pocket Universe. :D Voted for Star Walk!!!

Had Star Walk and recently got Starmap Pro. Starmap is definitely worth the price. It has infinitely more features and makes Star Walk seem like a software for 3rd graders... I don't use the app that often either, but when I do, I can find out way more with Starmap.

Starmap Pro is the most complete universe information of all apps out there. I don't care much about the user interface much because it is not a toy... It's a proffesional tool for astronomers. I mean cummon guys.... 60MB of information ! An Atlas !

I decided to go with Star Walk. I downloaded Sky Voyager a few weeks ago when it was free and downloaded the Voyager software for $0.01 so I plan on using that with my telescope if I ever get around to buying the accessory to attach it to my laptop.

Starmap Pro have more tools and 100x more stars then Star Walk !
