What's " Star Wars Knights of the old Republic " as a RPG.Trying to find a game thats really immersive with lots options and game play.

Any ideas?i know its a fairly old game but so enjoyed Never Winter Nights 2
I need to something to replace it with.:)

MacBook Pro Dual Core 2.5 G 15"

Knights of the Old Republic is an RPG yes, and a very good one IMO. I've never played Neverwinter Nights so I don't know how they compare.

kotor runs fine on osx and it is fantastic game if u like starwars

much much much better than nwn i dont know nwn2 tho

i am now playing kotor2 on vistaside....it is buggy of course but still a great story :p

Both KOTOR games are awesome! (Coming from someone who loves Star Wars)

I would advise you to run it in Windows though, because:

- KOTOR 1 is incredibly buggy on Intel Macs
- KOTOR 2 for Mac doesn't exist.

While that may be true, it will still run fine on a 2.5GHz MBP. Just make sure you download the UB patch.

The UB patch is nice but it's still pretty buggy. Mine crashes quite a bit.

Other than that, it's a great game.

KOTOR strikes a really nice balance between an immersive RPG and ease of first time players. I tried Neverwinter Nights and got bored at the Character Selection Screen. Too many options in that IMO :S

Kotor

Thanks for the advice. When i've bought the game,do install it,then download the patch before i start playing?Where do i get the patch from ?

still playing kotor2 and i dont like the story as much as kotor1 so far...

i have so many "grey" npcs which is not suiting my rp so well

also the conversation is often strange and less options for a good jedi i think than there was in kotor1

but i have only played 2 planets so far

K2 has some deep dialogs, especially with Kreia - I really like it :)

The game itself has darker feeling than K1, but thats to be expected! It the dark times in the galaxy.

You have the writers to thank for the awesome story and dialogue - these are Black Isle guys at Obsidian who worked on stuff fro Fallout to Planescape Torment ... less of the "let me give you all my money / will you pay me to help you / I keeeel yoooouuu arrrgh!<attack>" sorts of dialogue.

If the originator of this thread is all ready set up for Windows, the PC versions of this game will probably be less expensive if purchased new.

Regarding KOTOR, I was not crazy about having the action stop when combat is initiated and queuing up actions. I much prefer the combat scheme in Mass Effect.
