So... Aspyr has released said game yesterday through their digital download
store GameAgent (www.gameagent.com) and I was wondering about the
games performance on different Macs. Does anybody own this thing already
(I think Europe got it 3 weeks earlier) and can tell us a little bit on how
the game runs ? I'm downloading mine right now (the DMG is 11GB...)

I finally got to install this baby, it eats a whooping 25,1GB on your HDD...

Here are my impressions - but please tell us how the game performs on YOUR Mac too :D

  • You can't set any graphics options like AA, AF, texture quality, model details, shadows etc... just "high" or "not high"
  • If you want to use a controller, only the X360 pad works, nothing else. My Logitech pad isn't recognized.
  • Playing on 1680x1050 on high quality, the game looks gorgeous and doesn't stutter at all on my Mac Pro
  • Multiple text and voice overs included, like Italian / German / English / Spanish / Japanese
  • Its takes a little practice to get used to the keyboard controls, but after 2 hours you got it all down
  • No mouse controls in the main and pause menu, just keyboard

The settings before you launch the game look like this

I don't think that I'll have to get into detail on this game, there's plenty of
tests and reviews out there on the internets, so go take a look.

Anyway, for 39 US$ this is very well worth it, if you like to hack'n'slay
your way through hundreds of enemys, moving and manipulating stuff
with "the Force" and are a Star Wars fanatic then this is your game :p

I'll be buying this game soon to add to my collection of Star Wars games, but I'm "fairly sure" ;) it won't run on my beige G3 PowerMac running Mac OS 9 (and now also Mac OS 10.2) ... not that I'm any good at games anyway. :(

And no, I won't be downloading it, not with my dial-up connection, even if it wasn't flakey. :) I saw the game advertised in my lastest UK MacFormat magazine and checked the Australian webstore I usually buy from, which last weekend said they had it in stock.
