Ok so me and my friend are willing to play somes games on local area network. Since my mac is old, we want to play starcraft online just for an hobby. He has a pc so basically we want to do a lan game mac and pc

Here is the problem:

We connect on the same wireless network which is runned by the residence and is the kind of network you need to login to get access(user name and password).Yesterday, we tried to play but without success. Is there a way or settings we can configure or is it just impossible ? Remember that it's the residence that is in the charge of the network and not me so buying a router is not an option .

I heard also about crossover cable , i know it is an old solution but which type of cable would i need exactly ?(cat5 ,cat 6 ? etc.)
