Hi,

I am playing starcraft 2 for a couple days, the mac gets too hot and i am not very happy about gaming performance though cant say that it is bad. I mean it is fine with mediumish settings but wondering how it would be with xp ?

My only concern is i do not like hearing fan noise all the time it is just annoying.

Is it really worth to do bootcamp or should i wait for the graphics improvement from mac os side ?

my mbp is 2010 13inch 320m

This has been answered many times, but you'll see a 15% speed boost in Windows. 10.6.5 is probably over a month away, so it's up to you if you want to wait.

15% is not good enough to bootcamp. I hope 1.6.5 brings us more gaming performance.

in my experience the difference from running in windows is huge. I can run only low settings in Mac OS X but high in Windows... same hardware.

a friend with an iMac runs the game medium and low in Mac OS X, Ultra in Windows on the same hardware.

track frame rates with COMMAND+OPTION+F to watch yourself

same command in Windows, I would def say just watch the frame rate yourself and tweak the settings since it's a HUGE difference and well worth it if you already have Boot Camp installed.

i'm crossing my fingers for a quick Mac fix: drivers from Apple and game tweak from Blizzard. the beta apparently ran better than the release... go figure.

oh yea and it looks like apple is actually working on this, who knows about blizz though......

from the tests I've done it seems to be a lot larger than 15% of increased performance. For me bootcamp was definitely worth it.

Yeah, in think its more than 15%, overall smoothness min fps and overall graphics quality is much better than in osx. I know blizzard said they will and are working with apple to get performance up. I even partitioned my ssd 12gb for sc2 install for windows use. I have it on osx for mp since its not as demanding and I lowered graphics for speed plus .txt tweaks.
