Starcraft 2 performance difference.

Hi,

Since I bought the Macbook Air in January I play this game in Mac OSX. I dont have bootcamp with windows 7 because my SSD space is limited. My settings are all set to low and resolution is set to 1440. I capped the Framrate to 30 (I dont know why, but read it in the forums).

There is almost no game lag, yet my Air is getting hot. Luckily the Air dont pass the 80 degree.

Now I heard from my friends that the performance of SC2 in Mac is horrible compared to Windows. Does this mean I can play in medium settings in Windows? Do I have to cap the Framerate in Windows too? Will the Air get very hot and reach above 85 degree (which will cause early death of processor)?

Don't worry about your Air overheating. Yes, you should be able to manage medium settings in Bootcamp quite nicely.

have you tried coolbook? My temps are 6-7 degrees C lower when playing SC2 on my 11" ultimate with my CPU at 0.875v instead of 0.975v.

the fans are a lot quieter and the laptop is not as warm this is at mostly medium settings.

The performance is indeed much higher in windows. Probably +50% performance. I think a properly engineered machine won't get so hot that it causes its premature death, but then again I've blown out multiple video cards in the past by doing just that ...

I'd say one setting higher in Windows.

In OS X it runs fine on high. In Windows 7 Starcraft 2 runs fine on Ultra. But I don't really so that much difference in graphics, might as well run it at high in OS X.

It doesn't run that bad in OS X imo.
