I got tired of seeing almost every post about SC2 being about whether people can run it or not... Decided to take matters into my own hands and make a thread about the game itself! Strategy, people!

Plus I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to how to stop/survive early Reaper rushes when playing against Terran as Zerg. Discuss.

You'll learn that there's no day and night answer to a game like starcraft. If you start watching day9's vods on starcraft2, 20-30 episodes later you'll have a very great understanding of the game.

i hate reaper rushes, i just try to keep a few guys in base around my minerals, hardly preventative but it helps

If you are talking about real early rushing, and not a later actual attack, about the only option is speedlings. They are fast enough to chase the reapers around, should be able to shut down the harass.

8 racks 2 reapers. I can usually micro enough for 5+ scvs but nowadays they have marines during t v t defending. It's a lot more effective against toss and zerg since you can kite lings and lots.

Scout properly in the beginning and if you spot the reapers, I would just put up a spine crawler until I get roaches up.

Problem is spine crawler is static (practically) whereas reapers are totally not. Plant it right in the middle of your mineral line could be ok I guess. I'd still tend to go the (speed)lings route though.

Roaches have range, but it's short, and they waddle pretty slowly.

It depends a bit on how fast your opponent is with the reapers of course.

Fast speedlings or a second queen is what I usually do. Or if you're really feeling ballsy do both. Use 2 queens and some drone to fend off reapers while you run speedlings into base for a counter rush XD

I've completely fallen in love with the Perdition Turret. Those things just rip through zerg. :D

This thread makes me want to get the game. Haven't played video games in a while though...

This doesn't answer my question about Reaper rushes

If you know how to scout it's relatively easy:

As protoss just quick tech to stalker (you could do quick cannon but thats too static especially since your likely going to block your ramp (i.e. pylon, gate, etc).
As zerg just use a spine crawler at min line
As Terran... well no need to comment it's obvious.

GL!

P.S. not sure what rank group your in but I hardly see Reaper rushes... except my last game 2v2.. me as toss, my ally as zerg vs two terran that reaper rushed. We nailed em... early scout ftw!

You don't really have to chase em. You can just leave em around your minerals around your expansion and your main (you should already have an expansion up by the time the reapers come). I just played a game where I got massively owned by reaper harass early game, but I still managed to win because roaches are good against the late game mech as well. I dunno know though. I haven't been reaper harassed that much.
