Tomorrow I am going to buy an iphone 3g and I want to know how to pwn it from scratch.
I have already built the custom ipsw file with pwnagetool 2.0.2. I plan do use a legit sim card for the network that the iphone is tied to so I can activate it using itunes. My question is: do I need to activate it in itunes before restoring with the custom ipsw or do I activate it after restoring with the custom ipsw or should I do both??

Many thanks

AT&T is going to activate it in the store if you are getting it here in the U.S. Otherwise, no you do not need to activate it before you put the phone in DFU mode and install the custom image. Just make sure you deselected the activation when you built the image in Pwnage.

Thanks

I did remember to deselect "activate phone" when building the ipsw so that will be fine and I am in the UK not the US so the iphone is not activated in the store.

Thanks for your help
