I recently switched from a 2017 MBP to the new MBP. I don't quite remember what combination of settings I had on the older MBP, but I used to be able to plug it in (with the lid closed), and it would turn on automatically. I would plug it into a USB-C hub that was connected to power and to an external monitor, and keyboard and mouse.
So all I had to do was plug it in, and it would start up, and I could log in and work via the external keyboard and monitor.
With the new MBP, this doesn't seem to work any more. I have to plug it in, open the lid, log in using the laptop's keyboard (only because nothing would show on the monitor), *then* close the lid, and then the monitor would activate and I could work off of the monitor and keyboard.
I've tried resetting nvram and then applying "sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03" to make sure AutoBoot is enabled, but that doesn't work.
Does anyone know what's going on or how I can fix this?
