I've been experiencing a strange problem with my iMac for about a week. When I start up the Mac, there is about a ten second delay till anything happens... basically the white light switches on and nothing happens during that period, no hard drive activity, nothing. I'm used to this thing starting up almost instantly, so I was wondering what could be causing this.

Hello furry!

I've experienced a similar thing a while ago.
The solution to my problem was to disconnect my ipod shuffle while booting.
Apparently it takes a while at the booting process if you've got an external harddrive - device (in my case the ipod shuffle) connected to your mac.

Is this the case? :)

I noticed this too on my iMac, I will try it now! I hope it works.
