startup problem

ok so when I start my mac the blank white screen stays up for like 3 seconds then I get a folder with a ? mark on it for about 2 seconds then the normal apple and it boots. Why did this happen all of the sudden, oh yea restarts/ shutdowns take for ever too.

any ideas?

I think the solution is to set the drive it boots from. Finder-->Sys Prefs->start up drive.

Why it changed, I do not know. A glitch in the PRAM perhaps.
