Startup sound question

Is there any way to turn off the Startup sound? Sometimes I forget to lower the volume button and when I turn on the computer the startup sound is loud as #&$%k. I am new to Mac and I was wondering if there is such a thing in System Preferences>? Thanks for any info in advance.

That used to happen to me on my MBP. I ended up just making sure my volume was down low before I shut down. But maybe there is a way to turn it off. I'm sure someone in the know will chime in.
