Don't know how many of you use statistical software, but I had a discussion on macrumors back in November with at least one other member about this, and it was pretty pessimistic.
Well, it looks as though that pessimism was unfounded.
Stata is already available for Intel if you have Stata 9. You just download it from the web site if you already have the license. Just install the software -- it runs in Rosetta -- then download the Intel update from within the application. No charge at all. I had been waiting on upgrading from 8 to 9 but this is a big incentive for me to switch.
EDIT -- looks from the Stata listserv as though the Universal Binary executable (i.e. download from inside the application) will be available on January 20. Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up prematurely, but still, nice that they're this quick off the mark.
