Hi,
I just need to get few (encrypted) video-dvds ripped to .iso and wouldn't want to find and boot some ancient windows machine from cellar to do that.

Is there a ripping software that works with Mojave-Big Sur and is reasonably priced AND reliable to be supported in the future?
No shareware anymore anywhere?
Lots of these "shady" programs that cost $50 or even same for a year, so even testing these out is not worth for ripping just few dvd's a year.

Is circumventing CSS, even for "fare use" copying/ripping still against some laws in some countries?

DVDFab is a joke nowadays?
The price they want for their subscription service is a joke. If you can get a deal (holidays are best) on their bundles, that’s the best way to go. Their software still works well, however re-encoding is slow as hell on AMD cards. Oddly enough, the best performance is found on systems with integrated Intel Graphics.

With macOS 10.14.6 and DVDFab 12.0.4.3, I get this every time and giving permission with admin password does not help.
Their workaround with command line is for DVDFab 11, so nicely, it does not work.
Their contact form gives "Message Submission Failed!"

I already regret the hours wasted.

It is quite funny to compare apple anf windows machines with these kind of tasks.
I can take 20 year old pc, which has ram & storage replaced 10 years ago, it has 5 year old windows and it uses 15 years old software to rip a dvd and everything just works.
There used to be time, when Macs were the same, they just worked...

There are some vage hints somewhere, that you can use free "DVDFab Decrypter" with some other app to make the iso when DVDFab removes decryption.
Anybody knows hot to do that?

Funnily they have a supporting doc how to use "DVDFab Decrypter" with DVDFab 9!
They surely beat micro$oft for updating their documents...

This brand was the king of the hill 2010 years ago. Well, The Times They Are a-Changin'...

Just wondering, why would I test how buggy these "shady" apps are, if I can just paste
Code:
ddrescue /dev/disk2 movie.iso
to command line?
How ddrescue can remove CSS?
Or does the iso image still have that css protection?

Finally, I found "Aurora Mac Blu-ray Copy", which I had tried and forgot 2,5 years ago.
I guess I move on, with that and ddrescue.
MDRP will have to wait for my money until I stumble on a disc that those two can't rip.

...and then I notice that Aurora Mac Blu-ray Copy is a 32-bit app...
So next month when I jump from Mojave to Monterey, I have one more reason to keep Mojave boot disk close to the mini...
