The UI is a mess

The keyboard and trackpad/mouse support is ass

Multitasking is that of an etch and sketch

The walled garden software sucks since devs gave up

It is not a computer

It is a single purpose glorified calculator with youtube

Never again buying an Apple product till Tim is gone

Then just use it as a tablet with a cheap pencil, and stop trying to turn it into something it isn't. An iPad 11 is $249 on sale plus $20 pencil on Amazon.....not bad for a secondary device.

Toggle multi-tasking off

The native apps work and there are thousands more in the App Store ....surely some of them are useful. For example, my daughter is a doctoral student and she uses Good Notes everyday.

It is not a computer
Right. It's a Tablet

It is a single purpose glorified calculator with youtube
A bit hyperbolic here. For example, how about:
  • reading/responding to mail & messages
  • reading books
  • marking up documents
  • taking notes
  • enjoying photos
  • watching movies
  • browsing the web
  • drawing and sketching
  • viewing as a secondary screen paired or synced with MacBook
Never again buying an Apple product till Tim is gone
That's your choice.

Everything you mention is subjective and DOES NOT represent all iPad users.

Also feels like a BOT post.

wait until ye discover they eliminated the split screen feature!
I needed if PAGES titles matched SKETCHCLUB titles
alas, I used that feature since 2017.

so
yesterday iPad was such an easy game to play
Now the other app done hide away
which was not on half of the display
Now I long for yesterday
There's a shadow hanging over what dismay
Oh, that feature left suddenly!
Now I long for yesterday
Why Tim... let that go away?
I don't know, he wouldn't say
I musta swiped something wrong?
Now I long for yesterday

on the iPad!

The iPad is an excellent tablet. It is a touch first device that was largely intended to be a one app at a time device. Over the last few years, Apple has attempted to increase the capability and appeal of the iPad for those that want to do more with the device, and that's fine. Hand-off is a great example. For me, it definitely makes the iPad more useful working in tandem with my MBA. The multi-tasking is more problematic because the OS began as simple one app at a time. So, the transition has been a bit rocky for many users. Making the iPad more Mac-like is a challenge, and I don't blame Apple for trying because there is a vocal portion of the high end user community that want it. The good news is that folks can buy an entry level iPad on sale for ~$250, turn off multitasking, and use it like a traditional tablet. I suspect many will do this, while others will continue to push the limits of what an iPad can do. So....the user has choice, which is a good thing in my book.

Dumpster fire = No

Stale = Yes

I have an M2 iPad Air and Mini 7 both with backlit keyboards and trackpads. It's alright as they operate more like an iPad with a keyboard and trackpad attached. It realy doesn't change things a whole lot. I much prefer my Galaxy Tab S10 Plus with a keyboard and trackpad. When the tablet is in DEX Mode, it essentially turns the tablet into a Chromebook. I can multi-task, resize, reposition windows and more.

I can agree to all of the above except the UI. The UI IS a mess.

Bought a iPad mini 7 and iPad OS 26 on that iPad is just the worst update I ever experienced in 10 years.
Blurry icons and text. Weird wiggly animation and it eats battery.
My 5 years old iPad Pro 11" 2020 (18.7.1), have better battery in idle and feels snappier than a new iPad mini 7 on 26.0.1
Ipad is 26 looks and feels like a kindergarten toy software.
Im gonna return the iPad.

I haven't upgraded my iPP 2020 and my 15 PM, and I'm not gonna do it either.
Gonna stick with 18.7.1 as long as it can.

That's more of a bug fix that can be applied.

There is not a single thing in that post that Apple could use to improve anything.
Without specifics, this is a worthless rant.

Takes a while to get used to the new OS.
Y-e-a-h… Still not liking...

I didn’t use Split View a lot but the simplicity was much more welcome. I hate Apple caved to those who are bored and screamed “We want iPad to be a Mac!” News flash! /s It’s not! A Mac is a Mac. Get a MacBook! Ugh!

You can ignore the second half of the video. I just picked this because it was a decent demo.

How do you know they will?
If Apple releases this, they are convinced that it’s good.

Battery drain and performance issues they probably fix in time, but the other mess they released?
Maybe they should do a bug fix, or several, before the actual release?

I'm not going to lie. Is OS 26 the most stable and perfect OS build. no. Was it rushed. Maybe.

Am I personally experiencing any issues on my 17 PM, no.

I will say, however that Apple is very keen on noticing and fixing the issues in time. All comes down to bug reporting. if all icons are blurry, then its on Apple. if some are and some are not, it's the Devs responsibility.
