Statement From APPLE PR Regarding IPAD 3g Availability.

I sent the guy Simon an email. He was listed under the press release. My question was:

Will the iPad 3g be offered via best buy, campus stores, and
authorized retailers on April 30 too or will it just be apple stores?

His Response:

Yes.

You didn't really get an answer there, I'm afraid.

You asked him 2 main questions, those being "other locations" or just "apple stores".

He only replied with "yes".

Seems like a pretty dumb reply on his part. That or he just didn't want to give a direct answer and is simply covering his bases.

While his answer is technically ambiguous, it seems clear to me that he means it will be available via other outlets.

His answer of "Yes" does not answer the OP's question.

Second, the Press Release does not state specifically state that the iPad 3G version is going to be available at Best Buy, Authorized dealers, and campuses on April 30, either. It only said the iPad is "sold" (past tense) at those locations, which means the article is referencing the Wi-Fi only version, which are available (although currently back ordered) now. The sentence highlighted above certainly comes immediately after discussion of the iPad 3G, but that fact does not mean the sentence thereafter is talking about the 3G version as well.

With that said, I think it will be available for sale at Apple Stores and Best Buy on April 30, with authorized dealers and campuses shortly thereafter.

I agree that the guy's answer was ambiguous but there is the press release in black and white and people still don't want to believe it. Amazing.
