Does it put alert icons in the status bar IN PLACE of the alerts popping up in my face, or is it in addition to that?

I don't suppose it does the same thing for push alerts like AIM, SportsTap, WhatsApp, etc?? If not, is there something that will do that?

Also, is the Stock Icon Notifier in cydia an addon or a standalone app?

Thanks!

yes. i use it, it is great. the icon does nothing, so hide it with poof or whatever.

the icons on the status bar are a must.

Can you tap the icons up in the bar to go to the app that sent the alert?

Notifier will work with anything that uses badges. You should be able to set it up to use AIM or whatever. Some common apps are already in the settings. To add a custom app, all you have to do is type in it's name.

You can't open apps by touching the statusbar icon, but it does put an icon on the lockscreen for whatever program has a new message. You touch that icon and it unlocks the phone and opens that program.

Just to clarify there are 2 things in this thread now.

Theres status notifier which puts icons only on the status bar and you cant tap icons to open the app.

Then theres notifier (is that what its called?) which pops the icon of the app up on the lockscreen (i found it annoying) and if you tap it, you can open the app.

I think i have Notifier, which is actually called Reminder once it is installed. I thought Status Notifier was dead, but I guess not. Notifier also puts the icons in the statusbar and vibrates every X minutes if there is an icon there. The lockscreen stuff is an added option that is off by default.

I use Status Notifier along with LockInfo and trying out popup blocker.

I like Status Notifier because it lets me know when I have emails and whatever very easily like when I'm in an App, although GriP does as well. :D

It's a tossup. I'm just so use to SN that I feel like it's built in.

Crashes upon launch for me, with 3.1.

I downloaded statusnotifier, all one word, from Cydia, and I cannot ven get the program to open. What am I doing wrong

The config app crashes on 3.1. you can manually config though. Directions on the google code page.

There is a working version for 3.1 that has a Settings pannel for it that works well... but I don't remember where I got the .deb from.

What do you mean by typing the name? How?
I downloaded "Notifier" and I got Reminder app on my springboard.
In that reminder app I only see Notifications for Calls, Voicemail, Message, Mail, MMS, IM, and Calendar.
Can you put Whatsapp Notifications on the status bar too?

I had to email the developer to find out how to do it because the options are hidden. They're hidden in plain sight but I couldn't figure it out to save my life. I would check all this and give better info but I have Reminder hidden and am using my phone so I can't unhide it at the moment. Going from memory here...

Open the Reminder app and tap the icon on the top part of the screen to get more options. I think it looks like a wrench or something. There should be some sections for IM, SMS and some others and after you tap one of those, there should be somewhere to add a new app. All you have to do is type in the app's name. The developer told me it will work with any app that has badges. On one of the apps I use, it wouldn't work as anything except IM, although it's not an IM app, so if something like doesn't work as SMS or mail or whatever, try setting it up as IM.

If u need anything I'll try my best to help u 2.
Oh and i dunno if u heard of this thing called "Multiflow". It's awesome, you can multitask. And by pressing the home button twice, you can swap through all your apps that are working on the background. Hit m baq if ur interested ;)

I know this is off topic, but I wanted that Notifier cus I thought it would replace push. But the notifier only works with whatsapp if the whatsapp is running, or running in the background. I want to get notified even when my whatsapp application is not running in the background. I have tried Push Fix and stuff but it doesn't work. When I turn Push Notifications ON, my phone battery get drained up pretty quick and my phone gets really hot. Is there a new Fix that will really fix this problem?

I'm using:
Iphone 3G 16gb
Firmware: 3.0
