The developer of the GV Phone Extension and the GV SMS Extension has decided not to update them for iOS 6. See here: https://plus.google.com/101000267549201413782/posts

Hopefully, some capable people will be interested and try to get them updated.

Yea it sucks it isn't compatible with iOS 6. I've switched to using Tapatalk and it's pretty good. Obviously not as tightly integrated, but it works. Now that the Dev of GV Extensions has made the code open source hopefully it will be updated.

Got the phone extension to work. Never understood the purpose of the SMS extension. If somebody texts my google voice number, the text gets forwarded to my iPhone.

With the GV SMS Extension you could use your GV number to receive and send texts with the native messaging app and/or BiteSMS. Texting that way was free. The recipient never sees your iPhone number.

But when somebody texts my google voice number I will get a text from a phone number alias that forwards to their phone number under my Google Voice number, all I have to do is save that number in my contacts and anytime I text that number using BiteSMS or the native messaging app with my iPhone number, the recipient will never see my iPhone number and it will be sent under my Google Voice number.

Unless you text a bunch of random people that you don't save in your contacts I don't see this extension being that big of a deal.

The only way I could see an SMS Extension being useful is if you could use iMessage with your Google Voice number and send pictures and videos, and clearly this is not possible.

Go back to his google+ page and read all the comments and you can get the phone voice working fine. Someone picked up the voice extension after he open sourced it.
Thanks for posting this update. I had stopped looking at Zhi's page since a lot of the commenters are very entitled.

If you don't see the point then don't use it. Your "all I have to do" is too much hassle for me (and others).

There are a number of people using GV to avoid using SMS at all and that's another reason why people would use the SMS extension.

Thanks for the heads up. Phone extension working great!

No problem I've been waiting for this myself. I hope the new guy fixing the tweaks doesn't get discouraged by all the people feeling entitled that the app be updated. A few sometimes ruin it for the majority by complaining to the developers all the time

Here's a quick tutorial of what to do to get Phone GV working.

This is working perfectly on my iPhone 5 running 6.1.2.

Note: The files in Step 1 are allegedly modified to provide support for iPhone 5. Some people in the thread using iPhones other than the 5 were able to get this working without modifying any files at all, apparently. If you're using an iPhone 5, continue but be warned your mileage may vary! If you're not using an iPhone 5, check out what some of the people are saying in this thread:

(disclaimer: I do not want to be and will not be responsible for any glitched devices. Theoretically if things go sour you should be able to boot into your phone with MobileSubstrate disabled by pressing the volume+ button during boot to remove the tweak. However I cannot guarantee that and subsequently your jailbreak may be lost if you brick your iPhone installing this tweak. Just sayin'! Good luck! ;P)

1) Download PhoneGVExtension.dylib and PhoneGVExtensionHook.dylib files from here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3497819/gvexts1/PhoneGVExtension.dylib
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3497819/gvexts1/PhoneGVExtensionHook.dylib
(they are modified versions of Zhi Zheng's originals, work credit goes to Andrew Chilvers)

Before proceeding make sure you have some way of putting files onto your phone. I used SSH via WinSCP. You could use iFunbox, or iFile as well. Just make sure you know how to place files onto your phone before proceeding.

2) Search Cydia for Phone GV, and install it. DO NOT RESPRING WHEN CYDIA ASKS YOU TO. Do not close out of Cydia either, just set your iPhone down for a moment.

3) Open up your PC<->iPhone file transferring program of choice. Navigate to Root\Library\MobileSustrate\Dynamic Libraries. Find PhoneGVExtension.dylib and PhoneGVExtensionHook.dylib and rename them with some other extension. I usually use .bak.

4) Now drag the downloaded dylibs from step 1 into Root\Library\MobileSustrate\Dynamic Libraries. They should either overwrite if you opted to not rename the originals, or should just copy over normally.

5) Now you can respring, and Phone GV will be active. You can configure it in Settings.

It's been running perfectly for me for several hours!

Some additional notes:
- I had to respring after configuring Settings\Phone GV to get it to work.

Good luck!

FWIW, the steps above do work on iPhone 5 6.1.2.
I should not that for whatever reason when I place a call it does not show the name of the person in my address book I am calling; only their contact photo and what phone I am calling (ie:mobile).

It worked great for me for a few days and now today I keep getting error null and can't make any calls. I'm not sure why it worked fine for a few days and then now doesn't

Having the exact same issue and don't understand why it was working yesterday and not today.

Tried making a call via the extension and the Phone app would just crash. But...after opening mobile Safari, logging out of the Google account, then logging back into the Google account, I'm able to make calls again.

how would i do this for sms gv extension ios 6.1.2?

How do I use the Venu Reddy App in Cydia? I installed, rebooted, and it's not working. Are you supposed to leave the Authentication switch "on" all the time? Or just to validate your GV info?
